Maintaining the Meaning: An Introduction to Waqf and Ibtidāʾ is a primer that introduces students of Tajwīd and Qirāʾāt to the science of how and where to correctly stop when reciting the Qurʾān. It includes discussions such as the importance of studying this science, the different kinds of waqf, methods of stopping at the ends of words, where and how the reciter should resume his/her recitation after having stopped, and an explanation of the signs of waqf that are found in copies of the Qurʾān. Each lesson presents the main concepts in an easy-to-understand manner and provides examples from the Qurʾān to facilitate understanding.
